Annually, approximately 4,500 adoptable dogs and cats wind up abandoned at the City of Fort Worth’s animal shelter, but prior to 2010, less than 50 percent of these animals found adoptive homes.
Thanks to new, invaluable partnerships between the City, PetSmart Charities and PetSmart Inc., and more than 900 local private donors, a first-of-its-kind, municipal animal shelter adoption center was opened inside a PetSmart store.
The new adoption center is paid for through donations, so your continuing support is needed.
Donations are accepted by mail at:

Your Donations at Work
Since the PetSmart Adoption Center opening in late April 2010:
- shelter adoption are up 140 percent
- No adoptable animals have been euthanized
It is estimated that more than 1,300 animals will be saved over the facility's first year — that's more than three animals every day.
